March Seventh

LORD, we commend unto Thee all those about to depart this life, beseeching Thee to grant unto them the spirit of tranquility and trustfulness. May they put their hope in Thee, and, having passed through the valley of the shadow in peace, may they enter into the rest that remaineth for the people of God; through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.

December The Twelfth

ALMIGHTY God, who changest not amid the strifes of the world, grant us Thy peace; in all its changefulness be Thou our stay; deliver us from its vanities, and enable us to find our chief good in Thee. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and evil-speaking be put away from us; may we be kind-hearted, and learn to forgive one another, even as Thou hast forgiven us; through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.

September The Twenty-Ninth

O THOU, who art the life of all that lives, the strength of the weak, and the hope of those that be cast down, inform our minds with Thy truth, we beseech Thee, and enlarge our hearts with righteousness; strengthen our wills that they may choose the good, and refuse the evil; help us to bear each other's burdens, to forgive one another's faults, and to forbear with every defect of judgment and of temper in those with whom we live, and who daily help us. Grant this through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.

September The Eighteenth

O THOU, who hast made us for Thyself, so that our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee, we give thanks for everything that calls us Home. May no cloud of ignorance come between us and Thee; but grant that with clear minds we may know Thy will concerning us, and with true hearts perform the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.

August The Thirty-First

ETERNAL and ever-blessed God, who art the Father of the spirits of all flesh, whose mercy is from everlasting to everlasting, and whose strength is perfected in our weakness, have mercy upon us, we beseech Thee. Thou who kowest the things that are in Heaven and in earth, the secrets of our hearts are not hid from Thee, nor the sins that have escaped our notice; yet Thou despisest not the sighing of the contrite, nor the tears of such as are penitent. Look in mercy upon us, who are burdened with the sense of our transgressions; and release us from the bondage of our sings. Deliver us, we pray Thee, from blindness of mind and hardness of heart, from fretfulness, anxiety, and care, from all passion and prejudice; and grant that we may henceforward live peaceable lives, in all godliness and honesty, through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.

June The Seventh

O THOU, who satisfiest the desires of the hearts that Thou hast made, and who refreshest those who are weary, our longings praise Thee, our desires worship Thee, and our whole natures call aloud for Thee. Enable us so to rise to Thee that - having thus risen - we may love all that Thou lovest, and care for every one for whom Thou carest, and for every thing that is dear to Thee. Prepare our hearts, we beseech Thee, to delight in whatsoever is true and beautiful and good, through Jesus christ our Lord - Amen.

May The Thirtieth

O THOU Lover of souls, we thank Thee for those dear to us who have departed this life, and who now see Thee no longer through a glass darkly, but know even as they are known. We bless Thee that Thou gatherest Thy children, one by one, from the strife and weariness of time to the peace of the everlasting years. We thank Thee for the joys of the earth, and of this life, while they last; but we also bless Thee for their close, and for the hope of what lies beyond them; through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.

May The Fourteenth

O LORD, we beseech Thee to have compassion on those who in this life are burdened with perplexity, or troubled by manifold cares and distractions. Help them to commit their cares to Thee, and to possess their souls in patience, and may Thy peace console them, through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.

March The Twenty-Seventh

ALMIGHTY God, have compassion, we pray Thee, upon all those whose hearts are touched with sorrow, whose spirits are troubled, or cast down within them. O Lord, remember those to whom the burdens of this life bring disaster, or dimness or darkness of soul; and we pray Thee to have mercy upon all who suffer in body or mind from whatever cause. - Amen.
